Have you heard of, or used, a 'kettlebell'? Originating in Russia as 'girya,' these handled cast metal weights are the centerpiece for Perry O'Hearn's latest fitness venture. You may know Perry as the owner of Philly Phitness, a personal training studio founded in 2012, which focuses on ‘total transformation’ to help each client achieve their personal best in all walks of life. Since opening, they have worked with nearly 1,000 people and have conducted over 35,000 personal training sessions.
Soom Foods' tahini has been featured on the honeygrow menu for years, used to create sauces + dressings, such as our original Lemon Miso Tahini stir-fry sauce (which is once again available, but only at our 16th Street location) + our popular Sriracha Tahini dressing. We also now feature Soom tahini on our minigrow menus with our Black Pepper Tahini sauce.
inspired by the fresh, bright, natural ingredients found on the honeygrow menu, Philadelphia artist, Tim Gough, took to designing a piece to add even more exciting color to our new Marlton, NJ location. Accentuated by the expression "wild, wild, life", Tim's mural challenges the viewer to form their own unique connection to the piece, and in turn, the space itself.
upon entering our Fishtown HQ, you'll be greeted by two vibrant murals created by Philly-based contemporary artist, NDA. As longtime fans of NDA's work in Philly + beyond, we approached him for these internal pieces because we felt he could deliver thought-provoking, unique artwork which would help continually inspire the creativity which we, as a company, thrive on. The murals, complete with his signature silhouettes, impossible objects + abstract designs, delivered just that.
throughout our year-long partnership with Musicopia, we've witnessed countless examples which prove #ArtEdWorks. Musicopia’s mission is to provide opportunities for children to experience, learn, perform + appreciate music. We were proud to support Musicopia through our #hgMusic campaign during the '16-'17 school year.
several years ago on the blog, we met with Jessa Stevens, co-founder of the (then new) Philly-made, small-batch kombucha business, Inspired Brews. Born in 2014 from the desire to bring the community together over locally sourced + locally produced healthy beverages, Inspired Brews has since increased their operation + portfolio with over 100 Philadelphia vendors carrying their seasonal, cultured creations.
with four floors of mixed-use office space + an incredible roof deck for events (such as hgAthletics pop-up yoga on June 7th!), The Yard is a beautiful, welcome addition to Philadelphia's ever expanding small business community. Located just above our new 11th Street spot in Midtown Village, this Brooklyn-born concept offers its members the private, closed office spaces they need to build + manage their businesses while still providing an open, collaborative environment.
for some time we searched for a solution to our "order up" system—something which would replace shouting order numbers with a more delicate, "honeygrow" approach. In an effort not to over-tech our restaurants with another digital display, we opted for a split-flap display system (which used to be found at train stations all over the world). We wanted this system to not only display order numbers, but also have the capability to show messages, symbols + promotions with a nostalgic, comfortable presence for our guests. One problem—we needed it to be custom built.
