If the kale we use in our dishes is locally-sourced, does it taste better? We think so. We’re proud to partner with local farmer Leroy Fisher of Country Hill Farm in Kinzers, PA for the kale you’ll find on the menu at our Philadelphia-area restaurants. We connected with Leroy through our friends at The Common Market, a nonprofit regional food distributor with a mission to introduce communities to good food from sustainable family farms.
as lovers of all things culinary, travel + adventure, we were stoked to be able to sit down with Claire Cheney, founder of Curio Spice Co. Founded in 2015, Claire is a self-taught cook who’s spent the last decade visiting spice farms + communities over 12 countries sourcing the best spices to bring back to New England. Tucked into a cozy space in Cambridge, MA, the shop is like taking a step into a global adventure full of treasures + stories—Claire’s adventurous spirit echoes throughout every spice blend + object.
upon entering our new 11th Street location in Philadelphia's Midtown Village you'll immediately notice the large, vibrant mural completed by Martha Rich. Featuring colorful characters proclaiming even more colorful remarks (some of which Martha had overheard while eavesdropping at our 16th Street location), this piece provides a wonderful splash of energy to the space.
flower delivery services have been around for decades, however the overall experience of ordering + receiving those flowers has barely evolved. This is where UrbanStems steps in—D.C. born, but now in Baltimore, Austin, Philadelphia + New York City, this flower delivery start-up is taking each order personally to help elevate expectations + change the industry overall.
raw materials, hand woven pieces of local, Pennsylvania leather, carefully choreographed etchings + patterns—there is a certain elegance to the handmade leather bags which Chadds Ford resident, Bri Brant, assembles for her self-run company, Arden + James. We met with Bri to learn more about her bags (which were just named Best of Philly!), what inspires her designs + the revival of artisan craftsmanship in the Brandywine Valley.
Tucked away in a tiny Newark alley, just past a colorful mosaic bulletin board mural, lies Rainbow Records. The shop, owned by Todd + Miranda Brewer, has endured and evolved along with the small Delaware town over the years, without ever losing focus of its goals—to provide the community with easy access to quality music + books while supporting local art of all kinds. We had coffee with Todd at the neighboring Brewed Awakenings [editor's note: blog coming soon!] to discuss the Newark music scene + how the shop has maintained a constant presence for over three decades.
After a host of "out-of-this-world" circumstances, it is with great pleasure that we proudly announce the opening of our eighth location today! Welcome to the honeygrow family Newark, Delaware!
Philadelphia's hometown brewery, Yards, began as many great ideas do — in a dorm room + amongst friends. Since then it has become the staple beer in every Philly-area bar. We met with Yards' Founder, Owner + Head Brewer, Tom Kehoe, to talk all things brewed and sudsy (including one of our new stir-fry sauces, Yards Brawler au jus) as well as how the company plans to "Brew Unto Others" to give even more to the Philadelphia community.
