The re-visit: Perry of Philly Phitness

Jan 9, 2016 | posted by marie

hg: what does “wellness” mean to you and how do you incorporate that into Philly Phitness + your everyday life?

perry: I think the biggest aspect of wellness is balance. A lot of times in my industry "wellness" is portrayed as aesthetics and how hard you workout. It’’s really way more than that…

"…it’s a balance between physical exertion, nutrition + mindset."

local loves: Soom Foods tahini!

May 25, 2014 | posted by Jen

A new + local company, Soom Foods, are re-introducing tahini. Three sisters—Shelby, Jackie, and Amy—have always shared a love of delicious food and living healthy lifestyles, just like us! When Jackie's husband, a tahini expert, introduced the Soom sisters to tahini, they knew they had something big. Tahini is a spread made from sesame seeds, extremely popular in North Africa, Greece, Turkey, and the Middle East, it's just resurfacing again and popping up on menus everywhere.

Relax, Refresh, Return

If you’re struggling with this persistent cold weather in and out of the office as many of us still are, we have a suggestion for you! This weekend instead of snuggling up on your couch, barricading yourself in from the cold, why not make an on-the-fly trip down to the nearest beach?

It’s only around an hour and a half from Philadelphia to Cape May, NJ and two hours to Rehoboth Beach, DE. Bring some blankets and watch the sunset, pick a local restaurant you’ve never been to and try it out, wake up early to watch the sun rise over the ocean.

Nourishing New Year

It’s several weeks into the New Year and many of us are already settling into the acceptance phase of our ‘failed resolutions.’ As soon as the clock struck 12 on December 31st, turning a new leaf in some area of life felt like a wonderful, fresh, and amazingly easy idea.

Now we sit cuddled on the couch or hunched over at our desks, eating pizza or sub sandwiches for the third day in a row, wondering how we ever thought we’d have the time or motivation to bring these ‘healthy new me’ ideas into reality.
