Fishtown local, pizza dude + all around good guy, Joe Beddia of Pizzeria Beddia, provided the inspiration for ‘the spicy salad that joe made’ on our new Winter hgTestKitchen menu. Lauded by Bon Appetit as the Best Pizza in America, Joe’s new spot down the street from us in Fishtown opens in early Spring. We are psyched to have his delicious, crunchy, spicy salad here, and we had the chance to catch up with him when he made a guest appearance in our hgTestKitchen…
one of the first artists who came to mind for the interior of our third Delaware location was fellow Philly-based friend, Ryan Psota. We've partnered with Ryan in the past, asking him to contribute a mural to our Front Street Walls, which he designed + painted in collaboration with in the Mural Arts Program. For our newest restaurant in Christiana, we gave Ryan two walls + asked him to make something bold + colorful. Needless to say, Ryan did not dissapoint.
upon entering our Fishtown HQ, you'll be greeted by two vibrant murals created by Philly-based contemporary artist, NDA. As longtime fans of NDA's work in Philly + beyond, we approached him for these internal pieces because we felt he could deliver thought-provoking, unique artwork which would help continually inspire the creativity which we, as a company, thrive on. The murals, complete with his signature silhouettes, impossible objects + abstract designs, delivered just that.
All aboard the Market-Frankford El! We went to Fishtown to visit with the super cool gents of Studio Cidra. Mo Shabani and Steve Rivera have combined their creative talents to produce ultra-modern, sleekly designed furniture and custom installations. The dynamic duo is pushing carpentry to the limits with huge installations and out-of-the-box thinking. We were able to pick their brains over some spicy garlic stir-fry.
Straight out of Kensington, Amanda X is Tiffany Yoon on drums, Katherine Bean on bass and Cat Park on guitar. Reminiscent of 90's female, post-grunge, Amanda X caught our eye at the recent Phila MOCA show when they opened for Parkay Quarts (aka Brooklyn's own Parquet Courts). Hailing from our own backyard, we immediately invited them to lunch. Luckily, we caught them before they head off on tour with The Vaselines (!!!) in January.
As longtime fans of Little Baby's Ice Cream, we were stoked to sit down with co-founder Pete Angevine after a delicious vegan pie next door at Pizza Brain. With co-founders Jeffery Ziga and Martin Brown, Little Baby's are the experts in serving super-premium (16% butterfat!), locally sourced ice cream and non-dairy frozen desserts.
