as lovers of all things culinary, travel + adventure, we were stoked to be able to sit down with Claire Cheney, founder of Curio Spice Co. Founded in 2015, Claire is a self-taught cook who’s spent the last decade visiting spice farms + communities over 12 countries sourcing the best spices to bring back to New England. Tucked into a cozy space in Cambridge, MA, the shop is like taking a step into a global adventure full of treasures + stories—Claire’s adventurous spirit echoes throughout every spice blend + object.
in late March, we hosted an intimate pop-up dinner for some of our New York friends at Brooklyn FoodWorks—a career creation platform which exists to help educate + empower culinary start-ups by providing access to high-end kitchen space, mentors + other utilities. Without their aid, launching a new business in the bustling New York market seems to be a daunting task.
happy Monday, New Brunswick + hello Rutgers! Today marks the Grand Opening of our ELEVENTH location at 36 College Avenue at Hamilton St. as an anchor in the newest development at Rutgers, The Yard. We are beyond excited to bring our freshly, made-to-order, fully customizable cuisine to the New Brunswick community. With a wealth of students, commuters and locals, the location could not be more ideal. Poised at the edge of campus and mere steps from the NJT station + downtown, we are excited to join this vibrant neighborhood. Our founder, Justin Rosenberg, couldn't agree more:
As one of our fellow seasonal food advocates, and one of the few restaurateurs in the area with locations on both sides of the Delaware, we had to sit down with Joshua Lawler of The Farm and The Fisherman (both BYO and Tavern + Market) to chat trailblazing in the local food scene.
