deep in the heart of South Philly lies a once dormant giant, which has recently been given a second life. We met with Lindsey Scannapieco, Project Manager + Managing Partner of Scout, to discuss how the team plans to breathe life back into this once vacant icon while respecting the history + cultural impact the building has had on the surrounding community and Philadelphia as a whole. From a rooftop bar to a nanoscientist, the former Edward Bok Technical High School is poised to once again provide new opportunities + further cement its legacy in South Philadelphia.

the gift of gears: Newark Bike Project

the Newark Bike Project (NBP) has been providing affordable, healthy means for transportation to the relatively small town of Newark, Delaware since 2011. Accepting donations from residents, businesses + collecting discarded bikes from the University of Delaware campus, this nonprofit has cemented itself as a Newark staple, offering a fully stocked bike repair shop, riding lessons + other services to the community.

Come join us this Sunday May 18th at the Philadelphia Art Museum for Yoga on the Steps! This will be Living Beyond Breast Cancer's 13th year holding this event to educate communities on living healthier lifestyles. They will be raising money and awareness for the LLBC's education and support resources, which are provided to women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families.

"Val," aka,Valencia Baker, started at honeygrow only two months ago. I remember interviewing her and liking her right away. With her stylish haircut and warm smile, she won me over. She proved to be a rock star. Val shines in customer service. She genuinely loves interacting with people—and it shows. I asked her to join me on some events because she really enjoyed helping and did an amazing job each time. No task was to big for her and she was always willing to work.
